Goals vs xG: attack and defence gaps
Compare scored and conceded goals with the recorded expected goals in the same matches.
Liga I goals vs xG
Totals include only matches with xG recorded for both teams. Included matches may differ from the full season.
Attack gap = goals scored minus xG for. Positive means more goals scored than xG.
Paired goals and xG totals are not available for this league yet. The source needs at least five complete xG pairs per team and 60% coverage. Existing season averages are not used as a substitute.
Method and data notes
Expected goals (xG) estimate the quality of shots. They are estimates from the source model, not a final score or a forecast of the next match.
Every row uses the same completed matches for goals and xG, with both teams’ xG recorded. Season matches without a complete pair are excluded from all four totals. At least five paired matches and 60% of the team’s played league matches are required. Played and included matches are shown separately.
Attack gap = goals scored minus xG for. A positive attack gap means more goals scored than the recorded xG. Defence gap = xG against minus goals conceded. A positive defence gap means fewer goals conceded than the recorded xG against. Differences do not establish luck, ability, an edge or what happens next.
Small samples can change quickly. Coverage and first/last included match dates describe the sample, not an uninterrupted run of matches. These are observed season totals, not per-game rates. Different xG models and competitions may not be directly comparable. No live requests are made when changing this view.
Positive and negative gaps are separate views, ordered by the selected difference. Zero gaps belong to neither view. Ties are ordered by team name. This is a description of the available paired sample, not a prediction ranking.
